Microsoft Whining for Sympathy about OOXML

So what's the real message with Microsoft's open letter whining about IBM and ISO and the Microsoft driven OOXML standard?

  • IBM is out performing us?
  • We need sympathy after our record quarter?
  • People should ignore our anti-ODF lobbying in Massachusetts because that was just business as usual?

This is professionally embarrassing.  It is certainly not the company for which I used to work.  (CNet article is here.)

Excellent, pointed post.

Oh no, not another "MS is evil, but ONLY while I don't work there" dork. You guys are pathetic. Besides, there's a huge difference between lobbying (MS) and defamation/smear-campaigns (IBM). Maybe you should read more about what's going on, and why, before posting oblivious comments.

Chill, Ricardo. I'm sorry, but you don't know what you're talking about. I spent 5 years there at a senior enough level to actually understand the strategy. They have so much opportunity and they keep throwing it away with stupid moves like this one. And when it comes to smear campaigns, I've watched them do it.

I have too many good friends still working there. I want to see them succeed. This sort of stupid whining from senior management isn't the way to do it.
